Are Home Remedies Effective For Wart Removal?
Of all the different types of sicknesses, skin diseases are particularly the most unsightly of all. One of the most common is warts. They can affect anyone and they can cause irritation and pain. However it’s most profound effect is on the physical appearance of the person especially if it is found in the more exposed areas of the body like the hands and the face. They appear like rough bumps and abnormal lesions. If left untreated, it can lead to social problems like embarrassment and self-pity. Also because of the fact that they are contagious, persons with warts could become social outcasts.
Fortunately, a lot of methods are available for the treatment of warts. There are different hospital and home remedies for wart removal. Hospital treatments are preferred for the more severe forms while home remedies are recommended for simple wart removal cases. I compiled a list of home remedies for wart removal because not everyone wants to go the hospital especially for something as simple as warts. Also, home remedies are a must for everyone to know.
I learned that the most convenient home remedy for wart removal involves a simple house item; the duct tape. It’s fast gaining popularity because it’s said to be vey effective. It involves covering the wart with duct tape in five or six days. Then the area is washed with water and then scrubbed with pumice stone. If the wart doesn’t disappear, just repeat the procedure for one or two weeks.
Another home remedy for wart removal is garlic. It is used to placed on the wart until it is covered, then it is bandaged and left overnight.
You can also use various oils in treating warts. Tea tree oil, essential lemon oil and caster oil are said to be effective home remedies for wart removal. You just apply the oil directly on the wart daily until it disappears. Cover the wart with bandage to be more effective.
Aloe Vera is also said to be effective in eliminating warts. Immerse a small ball of cotton in the aloe’s gel. Then stick it to your wart. Replenish the cotton ball every few hours and change it daily until the wart is cured.
Instead of throwing banana peels away, use it on warts. It’s supposed to work by being rubbed on the infected part for many times a day.
Dermatend Natural And Effective
Apart from the above “home remedies” there are also natural creams and lotions that also work well to remove stubborn warts. Dermatend is possibly the best known of these. And the reason is simply because it seems to work. There are plenty of Dermatend Reviews that can be read online. The majority all report satisfaction with the product. It also appears to work equally as well removing moles and skin tags.
Other home remedies for wart removal that are said to be effective are lemon slices, chalk, dandelion, aspirin, baking soda, papaya and milkweed.
The tea tree oil offers a good solution to warts. It acts as a disinfectant. It also has a soothing effect on the skin. Take some tea tree oil in a cotton ball and gently rub it in the infected area. Continue this twice a day for a few weeks until you see the warts disappear. Good quality tea tree oil is recommended as a natural wart removal agent.
Apple vinegar also works well on warts. Take some apple vinegar on a cotton ball and put it on the infected spot and put a tape or a band aid over it. Remove it the next day and do the same procedure freshly.
Yes Even Banana Peel
Not many of us know that garlic helps cure warts! All we need to do is cut a clove into two halves and rub it gently on the infected area and we will the wart grow smaller gradually. Take a small piece of a banana peel, put it over the warp and put a tape over it to keep in that position.
Let it stay that way for a night and remove it in the morning. Repeat the procedure if required. Take one small onion and cut it into round circles. Soak the onions in a bowl of vinegar for about twelve hours. Put a slice of this onion over the wart and put a bandage over it. Apart from these, Thuja tree oil and lemon essentials are known to work as natural wart removal agents.
Such natural wart removal remedies help cure warts painlessly and do not live ugly marks behind. Also, these are easy to carry out, low-cost. In fact, in most of the cases there is no extra cost that you have to incur! and without any natural wart removal side effects whatsoever.
Vitamins Are Good Too
Along with these natural wart removal remedial measures, an intake of Vitamin C in the right proportion is necessary. Oranges and other citrus fruits, spinach is good here. Also some varieties of mushroom like shiitake, reishi and maitake help develop the immunity. Several health foods are available in the market to supplement the vitamins.
These natural wart removal solutions are effective in most of the cases but they usually take some time to work on the affected area. Natural wart removal results are visible usually after a few weeks or more. For a fast treatment, one has to take resort to clinical help.
One important thing to remember about these remedies is that not all of them work on all people. Also some persons are allergic to some of the ingredients so it’s wise to test first before proceeding with the medication. However, many people have already tried these methods and were successful so at least one of these home remedies for wart removal will work on you. If you are still in doubt it’s still always advisable to consult an expert or a doctor.
Diagnosing Diabetes: What You Need To Know
Diagnosing diabetes may appear to be a simple task for someone who has learned to cope with the disease, but daunting for the new patient who is not very familiar with the disease condition.
This article aims to provide some basic information about the prevalence, risk factors, causes of onset of the disease, consequences and how diagnosis diabetes is done.
How prevalent is diabetes?
One of the major causes of premature illness and death worldwide, diabetes prevalence has reached epidemic proportions.
Type 2 diabetes accounts for 85 to 95% of all diabetes cases in high income countries. This condition can remain undetected for several years and diagnosing diabetes is usually done when associated complications show up or incidentally through an abnormal blood or urine glucose levels. In the US, diabetes is the seventh leading cause of death and a leading cause of kidney failure, non-traumatic lower limb amputations and new cases of blindness. Among people aged 65 years and older, 26.9% were diagnosed with diabetes in 2010. 35.8 million people of all age groups are affected by the condition, out of which 7 million remain undiagnosed.
Who are the right candidates for diagnosing diabetes?
According to American Diabetes Association, adults who are obese and have one or more risk factors for diabetes should be tested. To decide whether one is overweight or obese the Body Mass Index Table can be used. People who are not at risk, should in any case get themselves tested for diabetes from 45 years onwards.
Risk factors that make a candidate suitable for diagnosing diabetes:
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Family history of existence of this condition
- High blood pressure (140/90 mmHg or above)
- HDL level below 35 mg/dL or a triglyceride level above 250 mg/dL
- Suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome, also called PCOS
- Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG) and Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) detected on previous diagnoses.
- Having history of cardiovascular diseases.
What are the causes of onset of the condition?
There could be many reasons why the blood glucose levels go up. After we eat, the food is broken down into glucose which is then carried by the blood to the cells, which utilize insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas to convert blood glucose into energy. Diabetes sets in when the body is incapable of converting food into energy.
The reasons why this happens are: pancreas not producing adequate insulin; the cells (belonging to liver, muscles, etc) are incapable of using the insulin in the right way; or both. This ultimately causes excess build-up of glucose in the blood.
What happens if one lives without diagnosing diabetes?
Undiagnosed and untreated diabetes can damage nerves and blood vessels that lead to heart complications like stroke, kidney ailments, nerve problems, gum infections, sores and blisters on the feet and arms and amputation, etc.
What causes Type 1 and 2 diabetes?
Type 1 is caused when the pancreas does not produce insulin any longer. This happens when the pancreatic cells (also called beta cells) are damaged or the body’s immune system is impaired.
Type 2, the more common form, is the result of a condition called ‘insulin resistance’ which is when the cells of the fat, muscle and liver are incapable of using the insulin in the correct manner. Initially, pancreas tries to make up for the deficit but with time, this organ too loses its ability to address the requirement adequately.
There is a third type called gestational diabetes that happens during pregnancy. Though this type of diabetes is no longer present after the baby is born, women who suffered gestational diabetes are more likely to develop Type 2 subsequently.
What are the tests for diagnosing diabetes?
The following tests are performed for diagnosing diabetes:
- Fasting plasma glucose test (FPG), a test used for diagnosing diabetes, measures blood glucose level when the patient has fasted for at least 8 hours prior to testing.
- Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) measures blood sugar levels after the patient has fasted for 8 hours and 2 hours after drinking a glucose solution that contains 75 grams of glucose.
- Random plasma glucose test measures blood glucose levels without considering the time when the patient had the last meal. If the results indicate the onset of diabetes, the condition is confirmed by a second test, done on a different day.
Why and when are these tests done?
Many patients prefer the FPG test for diagnosing diabetes primarily because of the convenience (no fasting required) and the low expenditure involved. However, according to experts this test does not provide detailed information about the condition as much as the OGIT. In this test for diagnosing diabetes, fasting glucose level of 100 to 125 mg/dL indicates a type of pre-diabetes condition called impaired fasting glucose (IFG). When someone has IFG it means that there is an increased risk of developing Type 2 shortly. However, when the results indicate 126 mg/dL and above, it calls for a second test and confirms diabetes.
By far more sensitive and more accurate, this test results are used to initiate treatment. A blood glucose level between 140 and 199 mg/dL 2 hours after drinking the glucose liquid indicates a type of pre-diabetes condition called impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). This indicates an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes later. However, a level of 200 mg/dL or above, which might be confirmed by a second test on another day, confirms the condition.
Random Plasma Glucose Test
In this test, a blood glucose level of 200 mg/dL or higher, along with the presence of symptoms like increased urination, increased thirst and irrational weight loss indicate diabetes. Other diabetic symptoms are tiredness, impaired vision, increased hunger and difficult-to-heal sores. This kind of test is complete after the physician checks the sugar levels by doing the FPG or OGIT on another day, for confirming the final diagnosis.
Diagnosing diabetes – the last word
Even when the test results are normal, checking one’s blood glucose levels once in every 3 years is considered to be beneficial both for short and long term maintenance of good health. For high-risk individuals, doctors usually recommend tests to be done more frequently (in 1 or 2 years), especially patients who have pre-diabetes. This can prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes in later years.

How To Treat Lower Right Back Pain – Your 2 Steps To Getting Permanent Relief
So your back has been giving you a hell of a time and making it difficult for you to carry out your daily chores. But what is weird is how you seem to be hurting only on the right side of your back!
Thank goodness you have managed to find this article of mine, because I am going to show you how to treat lower right back pain without having to resort to any excruciatingly painful surgery.
Let us begin by going through the obvious first step that you should take when you are in pain…
Have You Seen Your Doctor About Your Back Pain?
That pain in your lower back may seem benign to you, but what you may not know is the pain could be a symptom for something more serious than you thought!
There are two typical causes of back pain: one that is brought about by physical injury, and another that is caused by your muscles being overworked or stressed beyond its limit.
If you have had a recent injury, then your treatment for your lower right back pain should be rather straightforward. Otherwise it is important for you to identify the underlying reason why you are hurting so much down there.
Your doctor may order an MRI scan or X-ray done on your problem area to look deeper into your complain and come up with a proper diagnosis of your lower back pain. Thereafter, with this knowledge, it becomes easier for you to treat your lower right back pain with the appropriate treatment methods.
What You Can Do To Stop The Pain In The Meantime
Treating and curing your pain may take longer than you wish, and you certainly want a solution to temporarily stop the pain, at the very least. The painkillers that your doctor has prescribed to you may help, but there are some things you need to take care of when using these drugs.
For instance, take the proper dosage that has been instructed to you. This is extremely crucial, as these drugs typically have an adverse effect on your body organs should you abuse its intake.
On that same note, you should also be careful not to turn your reliance on these pain relief medication into an addiction!
A better alternative to painkiller drugs are nature’s answer to a safer but no less effective pain relief. Common food items such as ginger and tumeric contain natural anti-inflammatory properties that help to heal your back pain and give you relief without any side effects.
You could either make soups out of ginger, or add these food items into your meals or snacks, but it may not be as tasty as you wish. Thankfully there are a number of supplement pills that contain these “natural painkillers”… and I am sure they go easier down your throat!
Your Long-Term Answer To Treating Lower Right Back Pain
In most cases of lower back pain – be it on your right or left – the culprit is highly likely to be an imbalance of the muscles in your body. Muscle imbalance is when one set of muscles grow stronger or tighter than the opposing muscle group.
This difference in strength causes your muscles, spine, and joints to be pulled towards one side of your body, causing an uneven wear and tear on them. Over time, your condition will only deteriorate as long as you do not address the problem.
The way to treat muscle imbalance can be simply put as doing strengthening exercises on your weaker group of muscles to match it to that of the stronger muscles. This bringing of balance to the muscles involve some very easy-to-do stretching routines, but it is not an instant cure.
And that is why the best way to treat lower right back pain is to tackle your muscle imbalance to permanently correct your postural dysfunction, and simultaneously make use of a natural healing agent to stop your pain for the time being.
Burger King Nutrition
Just like I did with Subway and McDonald’s nutrition I am writing this guide to Burger King Nutrition not merely to repeat the nutritional information you can find on Burger King’s website 1but to give you tips and ideas so you can eat better when your kids drag you to Burger King.
And I will divide this into breakfast and lunch as well, just as I did with the McDonald’s critique.
Take a look at the Burger King Nutrition chart and you can see that you don’t have that many options.
They do offer the Croissan’wich Egg and Cheese (320 calories) and similar sandwiches like the Croissan’wich Sausage and Cheese (380 calories), Croissan’wich Ham, Egg and Cheese (350 calories) and the Croissan’wich Bacon, Egg and Cheese (360). But you should only have one and you shouldn’t add the hash browns, which start at 250 calories for the small and go up to 670 calories for the gut-busting large!
If you don’t want any of the above, the Burger King Nutrition chart does have a few other alternatives for breakfast, including the French Toast sticks (230 -380 calories) and the biscuit versions of the Croissan’wich sandwiches (which have a few more calories than the Croissan’wich variety)
Lunch and Dinner
Here’s where the Burger King Nutrition chart that your diet could go “BOOOMMMMMM!!!” if you’re not careful. But as I look at it I was surprised at the number of ways you can avoid a calorie bomb.
First, take a look at the Whopper’s and other sandwiches. Take the mayo off and you can save almost 20% of the calories per sandwich! This makes a huge difference. So make sure to order anything without the mayo.
Your best option among the Whopper variety of sandwiches is by far the Whopper Junior without mayo and without the cheese. If you do that you can get the sandwich for 260 calories! Hey, even if you add the cheese it is still only 300 calories.
Just remember, NO MAYO!
And load it up with lettuce, tomato, pickles and onions so it can fill you without bring a calorie bomb.
Continuing to the chicken, fish, veggie and kids items, once again the Burger King Nutrition chart gives lots of choices. Many of the options there are less than 400 calories (so long as you don’t use the mayo!), such as:
• Tendergrill Chicken Sandwich – 360 calories
• Original Chicken Sandwich – 420 calories
Sandwich – 300
• Chicken Tenders (4 pc) – 190
• Chicken Tenders (6 pc) – 290
• Spicy chicken BK Wrapper – 360
• BK Veggie Burger (w/o cheese) – 320
But let me repeat about the calorie content one more time…
If you add the mayo you are adding 25% or more to the calorie numbers above per sandwich!
Finally to round out the information on the Burger King Nutrition chart would be there line of salads. All are acceptable. Just watch the dressing. Go with the light Italian or fat-free Ranch dressing
Health Benefits of Carrot Juice
Carrot juice is one of the world’s oldest and most popular health drinks all over the world. But in today’s world of packaged goods, this natural juice is losing out to products that are high on marketing and substantially lower on talent. The benefits of this natural drink are manifold, but very few people are aware of it. Carrots themselves are high in nutritional value, but they are more beneficial in juice form. Some of the carrot juice benefits are as follows:
- Carrots help in improving eyesight, especially night vision. This is possible due to the presence of a substance called beta-carotene which is a pigment present in most orange-colored vegetables and fruits. When the body takes in beta-carotene, it is converted to vitamin A which helps to maintain eyesight.
- Carrots are abundant in vitamin A, a multifaceted vitamin that is stored in the vegetable in the form of beta-carotene. The advantages of vitamin A are enormous, ranging from increasing immunity to aiding in the reproductive process of human males as well as females. It also helps prevent stones in the urinary system.
- Having carrot juice instead of a whole carrot removes the fiber, or roughage. In most cases, this would be a bad thing as roughage helps to digest the food. But the disadvantage of missing out on roughage is more than compensated for by the benefits of carrot juice. The indigestible roughage contains a large portion of the carrot’s nutrients. As the body is unable to digest it, they are excreted. In juice form, however, the nutrients are available much more readily. In a whole carrot, only a miniscule percentage (about 1%) of the total beta-carotene is available for ingestion. In juice form, this percentage goes up to nearly 100%. As a result, more of the beta-carotene’s, and subsequently, vitamin A’s benefits are available.
- Carrot juice is very rich in anti-oxidants. This again stems from the vitamin A which the body synthesizes from the beta-carotene. Anti-oxidants are extremely essential to protect the body from oxidative stress. This helps to protect the body against a number of diseases like atherosclerosis and also prevents cataracts. The antioxidant properties of carrots also prevent against skin damage and diseases like psoriasis and acne. Psoriasis is a disease characterized by scaly patches, generally red and itchy.
- Carrots are known to have anti-carcinogenic properties, meaning that they can prevent cancer. Some people also claim that carrots have properties which help it to cure cancer. If that is true, then it could be the miracle drug that people all over the world have been waiting for. However, it has not been proven yet.
- The antioxidant property of carrots also means that it can prevent premature aging. However, having a lot of carrot juice will not make you immortal.
- Carrot juice is also very rich in minerals and provides all round nutrition. It is doubly important for growing children. They hardly get proper nutrition nowadays due to hectic school schedules, so a glass of carrot juice is a good alternative to all the packaged health drinks that are available aplenty.
- It is a good and healthy alternative to soft drinks and other aerated drinks as it doesn’t contain artificial sweeteners or preservatives which can be harmful to the body.
- The vitamin A content in carrot juice means that it is also beneficial for teeth and bones. The benefits of calcium in maintaining the bones are well known, but vitamin A also does a commendable job.
- Vitamin A also helps to replace old tissues, or ones that have been worn out. This helps to ensure that the gums are strong and the teeth remain healthy.
- The vitamin A present in carrots are absolutely vital to the body’s immune system as it helps to make the various entry points in the body less susceptible. These entry points include the respiratory tracts, lining surrounding the eyes and the mucous tissues. Vitamin A is also required by the white blood cells, also known as lymphocytes. These are the body’s foremost defenders against infection
Carrot juice, as we have seen, is full of nutritional value and should be an important part of any health conscious person. It is not the tastiest of healthy natural drinks, but that can be easily remedied with a dash of lime juice and some beetroot juice. The manifold benefits of this vegetable can be seen soon enough. Adults and children alike should embrace this wonder juice.
